When I travel I find the things that the US has in common with other countries more interesting than the things that are different. And how much the same some of the different things are. We definitely grow up with this mindset that we are the center of the world in the US.
I got to March in a Pride parade in MedellΓn last year. It felt so interesting to be doing something that everyone around the world was doing.
Yes we do grow up thinking weβre an island, probably since the U.S. is so large. I agree itβs interesting to see what we have in common with other cultures, because thereβs more than we think. So interesting you experienced that in Colombia. Pride is a top activity no matter where you go!
Coffee-flavored beer?! Ewww! On the other hand, I don't even drink regular beer. Daniel, is beer and Fanta a thing in Colombia? My daughter insisted I try it when I visited her in Chile; not sure if other South American countries serve it.
Regarding Pride Month, I always have to recommend a terrific book: "Stonewall Riots: Coming Out in America." Even though it's theoretically a young adult book, it does a great job of portraying the people and events involved with the uprising.
If you like coffee and beer itβs actually a really tasty combo. Normally itβs better if there are other flavor notes like chocolate but still good. Yes! Colombia has something called βrefajoβ that is cola and beer. Pretty good. Did you like the Fanta / beer combo? Thank you for the book recommendation.
Travel truly is a window to the world!!! And you found a picture window (or more than one) for sure, Daniel!
I found a small window for sure! Thank you Jeanine!
Yay!

I love the outhouse races!

Fanta and beer wasn't awful. I don't think I drank the whole glass, but I did have some of it because I love my daughter, lol.
You are so welcome for the book recommendation!
Fanta and beer sounds interesting. If I remember Iβll try it sometime!
I like your fun fact: the youngest country in the world!
Thank you! I thought it was worth sharing.
